Hill poppies
My annual hike up the hill to sketch and admire the green grasses and local poppies before they disappear. I can actually see the hill turn more orange as the day progresses and they open more. The 16×8 inch frame gives the watercolor an arts and crafts period touch.
Sonoma oak
This time of year the bay area oaks are waking up to spring. Some of the deciduous oaks have catkins dangling from the branches. This oak early in the morning glowed with catkins and lace lichen. Squaw Valley
The famous winding road
This road runs along the ridge above Stinson Beach. Today was windless with plenty of bikes rolling by and a few motorcycles on way to Mt Tamaplais. It was odd that a photo popped up of a painting I did of the same area in 2013.
