This tree is in Lucas Valley. I have sketched it twice, in pencil and ink adding watercolor. It is fun to see which birds fly into it in the mornings.My sketches are placed in the trunk of this big tree.

Black Crowned Night Heron

This is a oil painting is of a juvenile night heron I glimpsed at the Las Gallinas Wildlife ponds. The ponds are a nesting area for Night Herons. I only saw this bird once.
