Truckee and San Rafael, California, United States I work in oils and watercolors. The Sierra Nevada is the biggest inspiration for my paintings and sketches. As a fifth generation Californian, my family came to California with the Gold Rush of 1849. Wherever I travel I am inspired by nature. I enjoy sharing what catches my eye and how it evolved into my paintings. Reach me at my website, www.crystalharling.com. You you can see some of my artwork in High Camp Home, at 10191 Donner Pass Road, Truckee Ca. 530-582- 6866.

My favorite old cabin on Hwy 267 near Northstar Truckee California. Its June and everything is turning green.
Hiking up the hills of Lucas Valley has the grass changing from green to shades of beige and gold.
This tree is in Lucas Valley. I have sketched it twice, in pencil and ink adding watercolor. It is fun to see which birds fly into it in the mornings. My sketches are placed in the trunk of this big tree.
Marin County uses goats for fuel reduction and vegetation management. They are owned by Star Creek Land Stewards Inc. These paintings have been named after invasive plants that the goats clear off hillsides. This week I had a chance to meet Bianca the project manager for Star Creek, I am excited to plan on painting … More Weed Wackers
This is a oil painting is of a juvenile night heron I glimpsed at the Las Gallinas Wildlife ponds. The ponds are a nesting area for Night Herons. I only saw this bird once.
Temblor Range is in the California Coast Ranges that runs the length of Carrizo Plains.
After a wet winter, Kingsnakes started appearing at the Las Gallinas Wildlife ponds. I saw two snakes in the same locations. It was still wet and cold and they weren’t moving much. I was able to sketch one without it moving.
