Black Rock Desert

Granite Range with arrow-root wildflowers. I painted this range a decade ago with less snow. I wasn’t expecting the spread of wildflowers or the wild horses. There is a ranch close by and because the horses are friendly maybe they are getting fed. The colts above were a separate group of horses drinking water along side a road into the playa.
The playa is where Burning Man is held each September. Right now it is one gigantic mud lake.
