Blackstone Canyon in San Rafael is gushing with water, after our January rains. I took a hike up the main stream and saw many waterfalls. This view is from a side stream. It was the white and green of lichen covering this buckeye tree that attracted me to the composition and a small sliver of sunlight on the right hillside.
I was thinking a large 3x3foot painting then decided to go with a small canvas. I began with an upside down painting that I had started with Mt. Tam. Maybe I will go ahead with a large version.
