\Wind in the Air 24x8in thick canvas
Early in February after some good rain the mustard began to appear in the Sonoma vineyards. I drove up to Cline Cellars. They generously said I could paint on their property. I painted 2 studies shaded by olive trees that day.
I moved my easel a few feet away and painted another view with a patchwork of the vineyards.
I came back and started a longer horizontal canvas.
At first the tree was what interested me in the composition.
I eliminated the tree and focused on the sky and movement in the vineyard. Finished with happy memories of painting on location under olive trees.
