Antelope near Honey Lake Nevada
I saw this antelope up near Honey Lake. The lake is in Nevada, it is shallow and dries up especially in drought years. The pronghorn is the fastest land mammal in the Western Hemisphere. They also have an extremely light bone structure and hollow hair. Pronghorns are built for speed, not for jumping. I am excited when I see a herd and try to capture a few photos before they take flight.
It is that moment before movement and speed that I want to convey.
They are also known as “prairie ghosts”because they move so fast.
