There is a pullout in front of the old shack on the road over Brockway Summit to Kings Beach. It’s one of the best locations to paint aspen in the Truckee area. I don’t need to hike in with my easel, or drive miles to get there. Between painting the shack and the aspen I always go home with a happy.
Over the years compositions that originated here have turned into larger paintings in the studio. It is fun to remember the crisp days scented with autumn leaves and people stopping by to chat with me or take photos of the trees.
