Mushrooms at Sagehen Creek

My easel along the creek on a warm November afternoon.

I was walking along Sagehen Creek, it had snowed briefly the week before but today was warm. I found a couple of  large patches of big brown mushrooms under a pine tree. They were bound tightly to the earth with dried strands of meadow grasses. I still haven’t identified them. I glanced at the stream running next to me and thought , hmmm, I’m much more interested in the mushrooms than doing another stream painting. I sat there in late afternoon warm sun and painted a small square. note: I think they might be Poison Pax mushrooms.
