Donner Camp at Alder Creek

Along Hwy 89 towards Sierraville is the site of a state park picnic area. It is the location of the Donner Party pioneers campsite. There is also an  easy1/3 mile interpretive trail. It is also a popular area for mountain bikes.. something the pioneers would never have imagined
The roots  of the Yampah  were eaten by Native Americans.  It supposedly tastes like water chestnuts. This area, and many meadows in the Sierra have huge spreads of this beautiful plant in the early summer. nice to add this one sold!
