I attended this event last year in Reno. Burros adopted from the BLM in Nevada enjoyed competing in simple exercises. They might jump from standing position over a railing, go thru a gate, or walk in a figure eight pattern. The burros are tattooed on the side of their necks.
I spent lots of time talking to the owner of Pancho. He was adopted in 1999 when he was 3 months old. He likes doing tricks and participating in parades. His favorite treat is peppermint candy. I got a kick out of watching Pancho participate in the events.
Wish I could take a burro home with me. I painted Pancho with a red background, seemed to go with his name and peppermint candy. I left the saddle on him, because he enjoyed performing..but placed him out there on a rocky terrain.
